ABOLITION OF UPPER CHAMBER. MR LANG BIDES HIS TIME. S'r.oa Association—Bv Telegraph —Copyrigat SYDNEY, October 20. The Premier (Mr Lang) has postponed his visit to the Governor-General in connection with his request for per mission to swamp the Upper House, Cabinet having decided to await a more opportune moment. Air T. R. Bavin has challenged the Government to go to the country on the question of the abolition of the Council or to invite the opinion of electors by a referendum. MR LANG HECKLED. DEFINITE STATEMENT REFUSED. SYDNEY, October 20. (Received Oct. 20, at 11.15 p.m.) In the Assembly Mr Lang, when heckled regarding his intentions concerning the Legislative Council, declined to be drawn into making a statement. Speaking at the Country Press Association Conference Mr Lang said he had no desire to make Legislative Councillors. He wished there were none. He held certain political opinions, and while he was leader of the Government he intended to carry them out. Certain gentlemen had said he should not, but if the Government was still the greatest power in the land he would achieve his wishes.
