“CAPPY RICKS” TO-NIGHT.

Messrs J. C. Williamson, Ltd., in conjunction with Philip Lytton, Ltd., will present at His Majesty’s Theatre to-night the dramatisation of Peter B. Kyne’s famous book. ‘‘Gappy Ricks,” which has just concluded record seasons in Melbourne and Sydney. The play is, described as a rollicking comedy-drama, which has a strong love theme running through it. “Gappy Ricks” is a highly effective little man. His peculiar methods of getting things done should raise many a hearty laugh. The quality of the acting is said, to be highly commendable, each artist being typical of the character as drawn by the author. Ward Lyons, in particular, plays the principal part as though ho were taken from tho front page of this famous novel. The play has three acts, all tho scenes being laid in and around San Francisco. The cast includes “Gappy Ricks” (Warn Lyons), Matt Peasley, captain of the Retriever (Herbert Stallard), John Skinner, manager of the Blue Star S.N. Co. (Walter Dyer), Florence Ricks. Cappy’s daughter ifMary M‘Gre<or), Lucy Ricks, Cappy’s sister (Loris Bingham), Cecil Pericles Bernhard (Donald Nicol), Cappy’s secretary (Mary Macrae), his lawyer (John Allison), his chauffeur (Noel Griffiths). Dick Casey and Captain Peterson, of the San Francisco waterfront (Bertram Lewie and William Emmett). Tho season is limited to five nights, and the box plan is now* open at the Bristol Piano Company; In Auckland and Wellington recently the company received enthusiastic receptions, tlie critics hi those cities described the comedy as even more convincing than Peter B. Kyne’s famous book. If tho booicing is any indication there is sure to be a bumper house to welcome this talented company of comedians to Dunedin this evening.
