The fortnightly meeting of the Pride of Mornington Lodge was held on Thursday, Bro. Rutherford presiding over a fair attendance of members. The efficiency Judges (P.A. Bro. Smellie and P.D.P. Bro. S. Workman) were present to Judge the lodge for the efficiency shield. D.P. Bro. Reid was ■at homo in the lodge again. Another distinguished visitor was P.S. Bro. R. Metcalfe, of the Pride of Te Awamutu Lodge. A mock initiation was carried out for the benefit of the judges. The M.C. (Bro. H. Wyatt) extended a very hearty welcome to P.S. Bro. Metcalfe. Bro. Metcalfe gave a very interesting chat on North Island lodges. After the lodge was closed a quoit competition was held. This competition lasts over three nights. A member of the lodge has kindly offered to give a trophy as first prize, and Bro. H. Napier has offered the second prize. The last meeting of the Linden Lodge was held on Tuesday Last, A.D. ,Bfo. Boardman presiding. Lodge commenced at 7 p.m. to enable the officers to have the business completed to carry out the evening’s Erogramme promptly. After the usual usiness a ballot was taken to admit two strangers who were seeking admission. The ballot proving satisfactfiry, the officers carried out the initiation ceremony in a very creditable manner. Further business having been transacted the lodge adjourned, and then officially received the Court Wood* lands Pride officers and members. Bro. Boardman, on behalf of the officers and members, extended a cordial welcome, and trusted all would enjoy themselves. Dancing was then indulged in, and every one seemed to enjoy himself. The fortnightly meeting of Bay Lodge was held on Tuesday night last. Bro. Napier presided, and opened the lodge et 8 p.m. There was a fair attendance of members, also a few visitors. P.D.P. Bro. Workman and P.A. Bro. Smellie were present in their official capacity as judges for the efficiency competition, conducted by the Board of Management. Corresnondence beng duly dealt with, the lodge went through the initiation ceremony for the purpose of being judged, the officers giving a creditable performance. The loyal toasts were given and responded to by P.A. Bro. Smellie (Good Intent), P.D.P. Thomas Bond and Workman (Enterprise), and Sis. Wilson (Christchurch)., The item for the evening was the final of the fournight quoit competition. The prize was a handsome cake, given by V.A. Bro. Oursey. After several exciting rounds Bro. W. B. Ruston was found to be the winner. Bro. Smellie, in a humorous speech, presented the trophy to the winner.
