WEST HARBOUR COUNCIL.
The monthly meeting of the West Harbour Borough Council, held last night, was attended by the Mayor (Mr H. E. Moller), and Crs J. M. Fraser, A. Smith, G. W. C. Macdonald, F. W. Venn, T. H. Harridgc, C. M. French, J. Robb, and J. M. Kay. Accounts amounting to £248 Is 8d were passed for payment. It was decided (o grant a sum of £25 towards the Entertainment Committee’s fund in connection with tho visit of the American Fleet. Miss K. Fitzpatrick (Burkes) wrote complaining of the gorse growing on the properties adjoining her residence.—Received, the writer to be asked to take action through the irispector of noxious weeds. C. Morris (Burkes) wrote drawing attention to the uncut gorse at the top of Elizabeth street.—Received. T. A. Walker complained of the very rough state of the Main Boundary road fronting his property at Sawyers' Bay.—Received, the matter to be left in the hands of tho inspector. A. 11. Newey (London street) wrote drawing the attention of the council to the drainage of London street, particularly to the pipe lines that ran through his property.—Received, and the matter referred to the AVorks Committee for a report. The District Traffic (Manager (Mr IT. P. West) wrote acknowledging the letter conveying the council’s thanks for the reduction in railway fares. The question of an improved evening train service between Port Chalmers and Dunedin was under correspondence with the department, Wellington, and he would advise the council as scon as a decision had been arrived at.—Received. The County Clerk (Waikouaiti) wrote asking the council to have a few trucks of metal spread on the boundary road between the Waikouaiti County and the West Harbour Borough; also that two trucks of screenings be placed on the footpath.—Received, the work to be carried out.
