(Received August 4, at 8.10 p.m.) A lengthy despatch from Shanghai published in the Daily Express states that the general strike continues, and the operations of British manufacturers are practically at a standstill. Tho student agitators are most active everywhere, and the Chinese newspapers are publishing lists of banned British articles. The charge against Gregorenko was dismissed, the Assessor stating that the court was satisfied that a prima facie ease had been established against another person, and that an attempt at bribery had been made; but there was not sufficient evidence against the accused. —•Reuter.
