(Received August 4, at 7.30 p.m.) Tho weather was showery tor the Bank Holiday., The King and Queen attended the opening of the Cowes regatta. Ihe King, sailing on board his own cutter, fkitannia, finished fourth, behind White Heather, the winner of tho principal race. I’here were 150,000 at Wembley before lunch-hour, when tho turnstiles registered 40,000 an hour, and great crowds visited tho other holiday places. Hundreds slept on deck chairs at tho seashore owing to the boarding-houses being overcrowded. Unfortunately there were many accidents Giving to the excessive traffic on the reads.
