PROGRESS REPORTS. The following progress reports of work in various Coromandel mines have come to hand; New Waiotahi. —The seaward drive from the rise on the junction of the two reefs from the intermediate drive has been advanced to a total distance of 30ft. The feef continues at a width of 6in, and is still carrying favourable mineral indications for gold. It has been found that this is not the same reef as that atoped in the main level, but is another reef about 15ft in the footwall. Tho face is now under the No. X crosscut, and a rise has been commenced to connect and define the position. The crosscut for the Waiotahi-Cambria reef has been advanced sft for the week. The country is more blocky and better for progress and is showing more mineral seams and moisture as driving advances. Rising Sun. —No. 1, S Block, No. 1 Reef: Sloping operations have been carried on with splendid results. The lode gives an average width of 24in, worth £8 a ton. Filling and timbering in the north section in this block is in hand. No. 1, S Block, No. 3 Reef; Two men are filling and timbering a •section, while two men are breaking ore. The average width of lode operated on was 30in, worth £6 a ton. Battery:, For tiro, week, June 25 to July 1, 10 stamps crushed approximately 25 tons, worth £6 16s a ton. Kuranui. —The company has prospected the reef on its south-west trend, and has driven Bft ,to date. At this point the reef is about 18in in width, and looks promising, good prospects of gold being obtained by panning off. Owing to tho erection of a smithy and changing house very little work has been done on tho north-east, trend of the reef, but as tar as opened up good prospects were obtained in the dish, and colours of gold of a coarse nature were seen in the stone.
