(Per United Press Association.) NAPIER, July 13. Two Chinese named Ah Sue and Choy Jackson pleaded guilty at the Magistrate’s Court to. being in possession of opium in a form suitable for smoking. In the case of the latter it was stated that, although apparently not a smoker himself, ho was supplying his countrymen with the dm". Finos of £2O and £3O respectively with costs wore inflicted. WFLLINGTON, July 13. The Government stopmer Ilinornoa, running under the auspices of tho Cook Islands Administration, returned to Auckland yesterday morning after making a voyage to Norfolk Island. The vessel was absent for nine days. Tho passenger list totalled 18 both ways. Five passengers from Auckland remained at tho island, and a similar number joined the vessel for the return journey. Tho other passengers made tho round voyage for business reasons or to visit friends. The Hinemoa was at the island nearly throe days. A small naan, tity of cargo was taken from Auckland, and the return cargo consisted of 2COO crates of oranges and kumaras, and a few fowls and turkeys. The Hinemoa loaves for Niue to-night. Reports dealing with infectious diseases for the Wellington district show that diphtheria oases are decreasing, though normal conditions \havo not yet been reached.
