TRAVELLERS’ ENTERTAINERS.
CONCERT AT GREEN ISLAND. On Saturday night the Dunedin Commercial Travellers’ Entertainers gave a concert in the Green Island Town Hall in aid of the local Soldiers’ Memorial Fund. There was a largo and enthusiastic audience, and tho returns should largely augment the fund. The choir was in good form, and gave a number of part songs, “The Wedding of Shon M’Lean” and “Ine Image of tho
Rose” being particularly successful efforts. A double quartet was a feature of the evening, and a duet, “Flow Gently Diva,” by Messrs T. M'delland and H. Hogg, was very artistically rendered. Mr A. Clapp bad those present in an hilarious mood by his singing of “The Laughing Song.” Other soloists who acquitted themselves excellently were Messrs' W. Wilhelmson, A. Dempster, H. Hogg, J D. Cameron, F. Sharpe, L. Burke, and C. King, and Mr A. Holmes "five an amusing musical monologue, in which he made several palpable local hits. Mr J. G. Scott conducted the choir, and
Mr A. L. Burke acted as accompanist. Mr W, T. Smellio (Mayor), in a happy little speech, thanked the performers for the capital programme provided, and paid a tribute to the entertainers for their readiness to help any deserving object. The performers were then entertained at supper, which brought a very enjoyable evening to a close.
