PRESBYTERY OF DUNSTAN.
The Presbytery of Dunstan met at Eanfnrly on the 7th mat. A letter from the General Assembly's Finance Committee was read to show that the presbytery had been allocated £320 as the amount to be raised for purposes of the budget. It was arranged to distribute the burden as evenly as possible among the congregations within the bounds. Delegates for the General Assembly were appointed as follows.—Eeva. A. Don, A. J. Davis, J. Robertson, A. H. Wheeldon, D. N. MTvcnzie, with the Revs. J. Ryley W. P. Rankin, and J. Ings as emergencies. Elders wore appointed from the charges of Mount Ida, Strath-Taieri, Patearoa-Waipiata, and Alexandra-Clyde. The Rev. A. Don addressed the Presbyter}’ regarding foreign mission matters. He pointed out the need for more labourers in New Hebrides and in the Canton Villages, and made appreciative references to the assistance rendered by the Melanesian Mission in connection with New Hebridian matters. It was decided to try to arrange a tour lor Mis s Hancock throughout the Presbytery. application for a Synod grant for Naseby Church repairs was approved. The suggestion to postpone the date of the meeting of the General Asscmblv until November 17 was approved. Reports of visitations of the charges of Teviot, Patearoa-Waipiata, and Mount Ida were adopted, and satisfaction expressed that all were prospering. Arrangements were made for reading suitable deliverances to the various congregations concerned. Arrangements for the visitation of Wanaka-Hawea, Cromwell, and Lauder were also made. It was noted with approval that AlexandraClyde had provided a car with the up-keep for the minister, thus realising the General Assembly’s injunction to pay the whole of the ministers’ travelling expenses. A_ resolulon to overture the General Assembly to orange the name of the Presbytery to “Presbytery of Central Otago” was deferred until next meeting on the understanding that charges in the meantime were to be informed of the movement in favour of this innovation. The Canadian Service Book and Ordinal was favoured as suitable for voluntary us:; in the church. The Rev. A. Don was instructed to draw up a memorial minute in honour of the late Rev. Peter Milne, of New Hebrides. Attention being drawn to the fact that since last meeting Mr Massey and the Revs. Dr Cameron and Robert Fairmaic had passed away, it wan resolved by silent standing vote to express respect and sympathy with relatives of the deceased.
