Fyzoe (India) beat Van Lennep (Holland) 6—l, 6—4, 9—ll, 3—6, 6—4.—A. and N.Z. Cable. July 12. (Received July 12, at 11.5 p.m.) Kool beat Fyzee 6—4, 6—2, 6—3.—A. and N.Z. Cable. ENGLAND v. FRANCE. LONDON, July 10. The draw for the Davis Cup tie to be played at Eastbourne between England and France resulted as follows: —First match, Turnbull against Lacoste; second match, Crol-Rees against Borotra. The last-named has net yet reached England, and possibly will be replaced by Coco-*., The English players have been practising since Wednesday, and are reported to be in good fettle. The doubles will be played on Monday, and the remaining two singles on Tuesday. —A. and N.Z. Cable. AMERICAN TOURNAMENT. * AUSTRALIANS PARTICIPATING. NEW YORK, July 11. (Received July 12, at 11.5 p.m.) A Boston message states that Patterson and Hawkes were drawn in the Longwood Bowl singles tournament. They were ceded first and second among the foreign entrants. Patterson drew a bye, and meets Donald Hill, champion of the State of Maine in the second round, and then G. Peabody Gardner, a former intercollegiate champion. Patterson is in the same quarter with Frederick Murcur, a former Lehigh player, who tops .the American seedings. Hawkes plays Joseph Russell, of Manila, in the second round. Shimizu, Kara da, Arnold Jones, Niles, and Cranston Holman are the others seeded. Play will start on Monday, with eightyfive competing. The Australians are also playing ha the doubles, starting on Tuesday. They practised at Longwood to-day, and later were the guests of honour at the international Cambridge versus Harvard-Yale meet at Cambridge, Massachussetts. —A. and N.Z. Cable.
