Tiro Adelaide University professors had an astounding argument recently with an eight-year-old boy. Hearing of the wonderful powers of Howard Zelling, of Goodwood, Professors M’Kellnr Stewart and Darnloy Naylor resolved to put him to the test. They were astounded with him. The boy not only conversed with tho professors, but argued and differed from their opinions. He told that that Socrates had a wart on his nose, and when tho conversation turned to ancient mythology the wonder boy speke of Bias, Solon, Chile, Cloabulus, and Aristotle with remarkable freedom. Howard said he did not believe the theory about tho man in the moon. “Why not?” queried tho learned professors. “If he wore exposed to tho direct rays of the sunhe would scorch,” rcnliod Howard, “and if he were net ho would freeze. If he lived inside the moon ho would still freeze.” The professors stated after tho examination that Howard had an astounding visual and retentive memory, and also power of reason. If he retained those powers he would become a genius of tho world! A further examination of the wonder boy will bo. arranged. There happened to bo a keen demand for calfskins in Wanganui some time hack, and exceptionally good prices wore being obtained from Canada (reports the Wanganui Herald). Some Wanganui farmers, nr their wives, wore evidently studying tho prices, for the brokers noticed that several calfskin? which had been used for household mats were sent in. 'The vendors, no doubt, realised that, if a skin had done five years in the bedroom and was then worth as many “hobs” the cash realised, less commission, of course, would go well on tho way to buying a fancy manufactured mat of modern design. 1
