TO-DAY’S FOOTBALL.
EUGBY. The second round of the first grade matches will commence to-day. At Carisbrook the return match between Pirates and Kaikorai will bo played, and the match is expected to provide a close tmd interesting game. On the previous occasion when the two teams met Pirates were victorious by 15 points to nil, but Kaikorai expect to have their best team of the season in the field and hope to turn the tables on Pirates. Pirates, on the other hand, who have so far an unbeaten record, are keen to keep on winning, and a very keenly-contested game should be witnessed On the Caledonian Ground University A will meet Southern. At Tahuna, Zingari will play Taieri Rovers, and Alhambra and University B will meet at Opoho. The match between Dunedin and Union will be played at Montecillo INTER-HIGH SCHOOL GAMES. (Pek United Rhess Association.) OAMARU, July 10. The annual inter-school match between the Christchurch and Waitaki Boys’ High Schools was played here to-day in fine weather. A fine exhibition of Rugby was given in the senior match, in which Waitaki scored 14 points and Christchurch 10. In the junior match Waitaki scored 11 points and Christchurch 3. ASSOCIATION. At Culling Park this afternoon the four leading teams will play the opening matches of the second round. Seaclilf and Kaitangata will play at 1.30, and Old Boys and Northern will meet at 3 o’clock. These four teams arc so evenly matched that it would be impossible to forecast the winners, and everything points to a close and exciting finish to both games. The two country teams will place their strongest teams on the field, and Old Boys and Northern are also up to their full strength.
