For five years engineers have been slowly drilling away 10,000 feet below the summit of Keiser Mountain in California. It was a thrilling moment when the tunnel was finished recently. About £4.000,000 have been spent on the tunnel, which is 15ft wide, and over 13 miles long. It is to unite the waters of the Florence and Huntingdon Fakes in the San Joaquin Valley, and will be the longest tunnel in the world to be used for the development of electricity.
