THE RUSSIAN NAVY
PREDOMINANCE IN BALTIC. GERMANY’S NEEDLESS ALARM. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, July 9. The Baxlin correspondent of The Times says: “The German press professes alarm at what it describes as the Soviet’s predominant naval position in the Baltic. One writer, in drawing attention to .the recent visit to the Baltic of British and Soviet naval units, says that if the, British visit is intended to remind Baltic countries of England’s übiquity, the Russian visit is hardly a less definite sign that Russia also intends to have something to say in Baltic affairs. Berlin official circles do not take the Soviet’s naval intentions quite seriously, pointing out that whatever may happen in the future, Russia at present is far from being able to exert much naval influence, either in the Baltic or elsewhere.” —The Times.
