(Received July 9, at 9 p.m.) Under the new trade agreement the West Indies gave Canada tariff preference on flour, butter, cheese, lard, condensed milk, meats of all kinds, fish, apples, and potatoes. The agreement provides for two steamship services—passenger, mail and freight —fortnightly from Canadian seaports all the year round, and a second service of smaller vessels from Canadian river ports in summer and seaports in waiter. All freight rates are subject to control by the Canadian Government. Towards these service® the West Indies will contribute £29,000 a year and an additional subsidy for certain extra calls by the steamers.
