AN ANCIENT TOMB. Excavations made at Caere, near the modern village if Cervctri, 27 miles west of Rome, have brought to light 10 tombs on tlie site of the ancient Agv'lla, the largest necropolis of Etrurian times. Everything was found exactly, »a left 20 centuries a.;ro, when the Etrurian funeral rites were nerformed. llrr-ezes, arms, decorations, mid ornaments have been found, while in the tomb of a child the toys she played with lie beside her. Eor eight centuries the dead of the rich Etruscan city were buried here. At that time the necropclifi was three miles long and one wide.
