LONG TACK SAM.

That the general public thoroughly appreciated the opportunity of enjoying the entertainment offered by Long Tack Sam and his clever company was again evidenced by the large audience at His Majesty’s Theatre last evening. Long Tack Sam is an artist who appreciates the value of a beautiful background for his Wonderful illusions and acrobatic, feats, and his fascinating tricks in this harmonious setting of light and colour will long bo remembered. So superior to (lie ordinary run of juggling feats are the bewildering illusions of this entertainer that it, is hard to single out any for special mention; but there are two which perhaps are specially deserving of praise—the famous Chinese trick of apparently swallowing needles and thread and bringing forth all the needles strung on the thread, and that of rapidly spinning bowls of water at two ends of a rope. Long Tack’s two smiling girls prove invaluable assistants; and the muscular athletes in the company prove that they are as much at home on a horizontal bar as the average person is on terra (irma. The other half of an enjoyable programme is provided by hifeh-class vaudeville items by performers who are well above the average. Moran and "Wiser give a clever illustration of how to obtain 20 minutes’ fun from ordinary straw hats, while the Novelle Brothers pro vide amusement in an entirely different manner as acrobatic violinists. The evening is insured against being “dry” by - seemingly inexhaustible supply of drinks obtained from the magic kettle of Mr Chris Charlton, while the entertaining songs by Mr Arthur Mayes (basso cantante) and the attractive dance specialities of Mr Errol Anderson and Miss Gertrude Mitrengo complete the evening’s enter tainment. A tuneful orchestra contributes greatly to tho success of the performance. The programme will be repeated to-night and to-morrow afternoon, and the season will close to-morrow evening.
