GREAT NORTHERN STEEPLECHASE MEETING. (Pee United Press Association.) AUCKLAND. Juno 3. The Auckland Racing Club s Great. Northern Steeplechase meeting was opened to-day. The weather was wet in tils morning, but cleared in the afternoon. The late part of the afternoon was showery. The attendance was good under the circumstances Hie course was extremely heavy. The totalisator handled £78,945 10s, compared woth £87,882 10s for the corresponding day last year. ■ Results -

King Abbey led to the entrance of the straight, when Vociferate passed him and won by five lengths. Bonibrook, after nearly fallirur at the fence along the back, was third five lengths away. Tinokaha was the first to go to the front and led over the first hurdle, whore Dubious foil. Carrying the field along at a solid pace, Tinokaha was leading by sis lengths when the stand the second time, with Koseberry next. At the eighth hurdle Rose berry, Tinokaha, and Comical, wore racing on terms. Comical made a bad jump hero. When they straightened up for the run across the top stretch Roscbcrry was in the lead with Snake dose up. Snake challenged, but Roseberry always had the best of it and won by a length. Comical was a similar distance away, and Vagabond was fourth. Passin’ Thro' fell. lime, smin 4sec.

The weather was fine but dull for the Ot.akj-Maori meeting- There was an excellent attendance. The course was heavy, due to the recent rams. The totalisator handled £19,947, against £20,477 last.year. Results:
