AMUSEMENTS.

EMPIRE THEATRE. Mary Philbin. who first came into prominente in “The Merry-Go-Round” is an actress of an unusual type, and one who makes a strong appeal.. Her latest picture. “The Gaiety Girl.” is at present being screened at ihe Empire Theatre, and it is quite up to expectations from every point of view. The story is based on the novel by I A. R. Wylie, “The Inheritors,” and tolls of the last of the Tudors, a proud family who are compelled to vacate the castle they have held for generations past. How they regain possession of their stronghold, and how the curse of Pcncarreg falls on the interlopers is graphically told in the picture; : Tnete is a good supporting list, and the Empire Orchestra provides a bright musical programme. OCTAGON THEATRE. “Dangerous Money,”- tne new picture at the Octagon Theatre, is a bright Paramount production, in which the vivacious Bebe Daniels plays the leading role. The story is not without its exciting features, and there are several incidents of a sensational nature. The theme is woven round a young girl who suddenly finds herself the possessor of considerable wealth, which she proceeds to spend as fast as she can. There is a substantial supporting list, including comedies, gazettes, and a fine musical programme is' contributed by the Octagon Concert Orchestra, under Mr Arthur Neate, QUEENS’S THEATRE. “The Eagle’s Feather,” a story of ranch life, is the chief attraction of this week’s programme at the , Queen’s Theatre, and is woven round two women, “the eagle woman,” boss of the ranch and a capable boss at that, and “the eagle s feather,” her niece. The supports include several topical pictures, and one or two entertaining comedies. EVERYBODY’S THEATRE. “Richard Barthelmess,” who is already well-known to the screen, plays the leading part in the picture “Classmates,” which is being shown at Everybody’s Theatre this week. Another attractive picture of a humorous nature is “The Super Sex,” and there is also a strong supporting list. THE SA\ OY. The Savoy Saturday afternoon dances, which have been instituted again at the Tudor Hall this 'season, are proving very popular, and a number of dancing enthusiasts availed themselves of the delightful surroundings at the Savoy on Saturday afternoon. In the evening the Tudor Hall was thronged with dancers, who it was easily seen, greatly enjoyed the evening entertainment. With spotlight and general lighting effects, a first-class orchestra, and an equally good floor, it is not a matter for wonder that dances at the Savoy are so popular.
