PRICE OF MILK.

AN INCREASE PROPOSED. HIGH PRICE OF BRAN. (Feom Odtb Own Cobeespondemt.) AUCKLAND, May 10. The effect on the price of milk of the present dry weather conditions and the extreme shortage of feed has been discussed at a meeting of the executive of the Milk Producers' Association. It was decided to take steps to secure an increase in the wholesale price to compensate somewhat for the additional heavy expenditure necessary to produce milk under the existing conditions. Correspondence between the association and the Minister of Agriculture regarding the present high price oi bran was read. It was stated that although duty on imported bran had been reduced by £l 10s a ton, it could not be landed under £l2 a ton The price of locally-produced bran had been brought to a similar level, and it was derided to make representations to the Minister urging the necessity not only for removing the duty, but ■ for investigating the reason for the present abnormally high price of local bran, which was considered unjustifiable. ■
