THE TEN COMMANDMENTS.

The modern world laughed in defiance at the fundamental laws of morality. Then came the World War, which drenched the nations with blood, and now the old derision has changed to helpless and bewildered drifting and seeking for what? There will be no answer to the question or the quest until we return to the faith of our forefathers for precepts flouted, and laws defied bring their own punishment. This, in brief, is the theme of Paramodnt’s ' The Ten Commandments,’’ which will be screened at the Octagon and Empire Theatres on Friday next. *> It is claimed that not since “ Intolerance” has such a powerful document been released to the world—a document that will have a message to humanity, a message that is as old as the world and as .new as to-morrow. Cecil B. de Mille is said to have produced a masterpiece. The picture is in 14 parts, the first four parts a Biblical prologue showing the birth of the Ten Commandments, and tile remainder of the play, a story showing the application of the .Commandments to our modem social and moral codes. There will be afternoon matinees in both the Octagon and Empire Theatres. There will be a special orchestra at the Empire during the afternoons, and the Octagon Theatre has arranged for a special organ accompaniment by Mr Charles A. Martin for the matinees. A special feature will bo made of the musical programmes at both theatres during the evening performances. The box plan for the Empire is now oiien at the Bristol and for the Octagon at Begg’e.
