A NEW CONVENT.
lOUNDATION STONE LAID. (Per United Press Association.) GREYMOUTH, February 16. In the presence of a large assemblage Bishop Brudie, of Christchurch, this afternoon blessed and formally laid the foundation stone of the new Convent of Mercy, costing £30,C00. The building is semiGothic in style, and fronts Tainui street. The Mayor (Mr C. Parfitt), Mr J. O’Brien, M.P., Rev. Dr Kennedy (Hokitika), and others made congratulatory speeches. Father Long announced that £22,C00 had already been raised, while the collection that day realised over £360.
