ALLEGED INFRINGEMENT. BATTLE ON THE BATTLE OF JUTLAND. 1 Press Association —By Telegraph—Copyright, LONDON, February 13. ' A settlement of Mr Filson Young's action was announced in the Chancery] division. . , ’ Mr Archer, for plaintiff, emphasised the point that a settlement had been reached, because Mr Young, while he wanted to test whether it was right for anyone to incorporate the whole of an article in b book except under very exceptional circumstances, now realised that the matter might bring into litigation the names of very great public servants, and he was very anxious to avoid the appearance uf anything of that sort. Sir Ihmcan Earley, for Admiral Bacon, said a new echtxm of the book was being prepared merely! giving extracts from Mr Filson Young’S article.—Reuter. The vexed question of the Battle of Jutland cropped up at last in the law courts, Mr Filson Young (a well-lcnown journalist and author) brought an action in the Chancery Division to restrain Admiral Sir Reginald Bacon and his publishers (Hutchinson and Co.) from publishing any copy of Admiral Bacon’s book on the Jutland scandal, which the plaintiff alleged infringed his copyright. The plaintiff’s! counsel said that Mr Filson Young wrote an article in a. Sunday newspaper express- ' ing the opinion that Lord Beatty’s tactics at Jutland were preferable to those: of Lord Jellicoe. Admiral Bacon reprinted the whole of the article in his book with his own comments on it. Counsel argued that this was infringement of the copyright, and that plaintiff had thereoy suffered damage, as the value of the article had not expired.
