ARMS CONFERENCE
PRESIDENT COOLIDGE’S ATTITUDE. WAIT AND SEE POLICY. WASHINGTON, February 14. (Received Fob. 15. at 5.5 p.m.) While making no official comment on London despatches which suggest the British Government hopes the new Arms Conference will be called soon, preferably by the United States, it is understood President Coolidg© is., following a waiting policy. He is watching developments abroad carefully, and is prepared to act when he considers a- move towards disarmament is opportune. He has not departed from his announced intention of
permitting European Powers to develop what can be accomplished towards disarmament through the League of Nations. If Britain should take the view that more can ho accomplished through a conference called by the United States, this would doubtless exercise a great influence in a change of the attitude taken up by the United States.—A. and N.Z. Cable.
