LATE MR LAURENSON.

TRIBUTE FROM KNOX CHURCH PULPIT. In Knox Church yesterday morning during public worship tho Rev. Tulloch ifuille, in the course of a. short memorial to Mr James G. Laurenson, of Roslyu, said: “During the week this congregation suffered a groat loss when James G. Lauronson died. He was only 64 years of age, and was full of a desire to work and servo, zealously planning how to use the years that he naturally expected would yet be his. For many years he had been a member and an office-bearer in this congregation, and for the last 15 years he was an elder. As an elder he was a painstaking shepherd of the people committed to his care, and regular in his visiting at communion seasons, punctilious in his care of the sick. As the convener of the Works Committee ho gave years of devoted service to the maintenance of these buildings. Ho was a man of sterling honesty, not afraid to battle for tho right, successful in business, charitable towards others, gifted with humour, rich in faith, and indomitable in purpose. Here was a man whose manhood was built on the Rock which is Christ. Those of us who knew his heart know how he loved tho Crucified, and in the very centre of his life there stood tho Cross. Ho often wondered and spoke about the Cross. Now there is nothing hid from him. May God raise up in our midst many men like this man.”
