APPOINTMENT OP MATRON. MISS H r. TENNENT SELECTED. At a special meeting of (lie Otago Hospital Board yesterday afternoon Miss Edith P. Tennent, assistant matron of the Wellington Hospital, was appointed matron of the Dn ru'd in Hospital, There wore six applicants for tim position. Tho meeting was attended by Mr W. K. S. Knight (chairman) and Messrs Hancock, Scurv, Morgan, Quolch, and Dr Nowlands, nml Mcstlamea Madio, Macdonald, and Jaokson. 'Hie applications were considered in committee. Miss Tonnont, who is 42 years of ago, has occupied the position of assistant matron of uio Wellington Hospital for the past four years. She entered the Wellington Hospital for training in August, 1915, and passed the State Registration Examination in January, 1919, who nsho secured first place in New Zealand. Miss Tennent was promoted to the rank of sister in 1919. and during’'her term in (hat position she was in charge of tho children’s surgical ward, tho main operating theatre, and the fever hospital. In May. 1922. Miss Tennent was granted six months' leave of absence in order to undergo midwifery training at. tho Alexandra Home, and she passed the Stale examination in midwifery in the following December, when she was lirst, equal for New Zealand. Miss Tennent was promoted to tho position of assistant matron of the Wellington Hospital on November 10, 1920, a position which she has occupied up to the present time.
