Tho decline of the ostrich feather industry in South Africa from £3,(XX),000 in 1913 to £IOO,OOO in 1922 is attributed to a change of fashion. Another reason given is the increased use of motor cars, the wind from motoring having a destructive effect on ostrich feathers.
