CAIRO, January 6. « (Received January 7, at 8.10 p.m.) Tho Council of Ministers has passed a credit for £150,000 for the purpose of increasing the Egyptian army by two battalions of infantry and a squadron of cavalry, thus enabling Ministers to employ the officers who wore expelled from tho Sudan. Tho newspapers hope that the reinforcement will obviate the necessity of Egypt appealing for British assistance in the event of an attack from outside.—A. and N.Z. Cable.
