ST. PAUL'S CATHEDRAL
FURTHER DEVELOPMENTS. LONDON CORPORATION TAKES ACTION. Press Association —By Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, January 6. There is an extraordinary development concerning St. Paul’s Cathedral. The City of London Corporation, acting on the report of its surveyor, expressing the opinion that the dome is likely to fall within a short period of years, has notified the cathedral authorities that the structure is dangerously unsafe, and must be adequately repaired. The surveyor says that the weight of the dome has crushed the supporting pillars, and it should be pulled down and rebuilt. He considers the commission’s recommendation for a dressing of cement would be ineffective. The legal question arises whether <he corporation’s powers axe limited to the exterior of buildings, and cannot be extended to interiors, —A. and N.Z. Cable.
