ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
AN ELECTRICIAN’S DEATH. (Per United Press Association.) PALMERSTON N., December 10. William Russell Matthews, aged 23, of Palmerston North, au electrician employed at the Mangahao Power House, was admitted to hospital this morning in an Tinconscious condition, suffering from burns and a fracture of the base of the skull. He died this evening with out recovering consciousness. Matthews came into contact with an electric current of 11,000 volts, the shock causing him to fall six or eight feel. The contact with the live wire caused burns to the body, while in the fall he sustained tho major injury mentioned. The deceased was a single man, his parents residing in Palmerston North. At tho inquest.on Augustus John M'C-han, who was found hanged at Matiere, the coroner returned a verdict of suicide by hanging. ♦
