EMPIRE CONSULTATIONS
VISITS TO DOMINIONS.
MR BRUCE ENDORSES MR MASSEY’S VIEW. Press Association —By Telegraph—Copyright. MELBOURNE, December 10. Referring to Mr Massey’s recent statement, in which he expressed agreement with the views of Mr L. S. Amery that if Great Britain expected the overseas Ministers to make periodical visits to London in order to consult British Ministers, tho latter should be equally prepared to make the journey overseas and hold conferenced ih various parts of the Empire, Mr Bruce said he cordially welcomed not only Mr Amery’s suggestion, but Mr Massey’s endorsement of it. He entirely agreed with the opinion that there was urgent necessity for some arrangement being made by which more frequent conferences could be held by representatives of the self-governing portions of the Empire, without it being compulsory for the Prims Ministers of Australia and New Zealand to travel to London. If arrangements could be made for holding conferences in the different centres of the Empire it would be quite possible to have more frequent consultations than had been found practicable in the past. He welcomed the suggestion for the periodical visits of British Ministers, as it was omy by this means that British statesmen could hope to obtain first-hand information on the problems which confronted the different parts of the Empire.
