MAINTENANCE CASE
NEW ZEALAND WOMAN CONCERNED. QUESTION OF DIVORCE DECREE. Press Association —By Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, December 9. (Received Dec. 10, at 8.40 p.m.) David Williams, of Merthyr, was summoned on an order from Auckland, ordering him to pay his wife Catherine 40s a week maintenance. Williams pleaded that when he married the woman he understood that she had divorced her husband, but he had since found that the decree had not been made absolute when she married him. In view of the evidence that Williams was never properly married, the magistrate declined to confirm the order, but he is sending the papers to Auckland.— A. and N.Z. Cable.
