At the annual meeting of the Auckland Stock Exchange Mr Creagh, chairman, said the past year had been a period of greater prosperity that the previous 12 months. The business of sharebroking was on a better footing that it had ever been previously. A large percentage of the public had learned that mortgages were not the only form of investment worth consideration. He believed that the number of these who in the future would be prepared to consider investing capital in gilt-edged securities would increase. At the same time, it was to be hoped there would before long be ia, larger amount of money for mortgage purposes than there had been for some time past. Considerable difficulty was experienced in berthing the Marama, which arrived from Sydney ‘to-day. The Marama was swung i>y the tide, and' her bow touched the steamer Pakipaki lying at Princes wharf. Meanwhile the barrier formed by the vessel closed the basin to ferry steamers, some of which were delayed several minutes.
