THE BRISBANE MATCH.
UMPIRES’ DECISIONS CRITICISED.
Pres* Association— By Telegraph—Copyright. SYDNEY, December 8. The Sydney Daily Telegraph’s special writer criticises some of the umpires decisions in the English match on Saturday. He says it was an obvious mistake when Sutcliffe was given out leg before wicket. Neither the bowler nor the wicketkeeper appealed. Hendry asked the umpire to reverse his decision, but he refused. The writer adds that, according to Hendry, it was another had decision when Chapman was given not out for a catch at the wickets. Ultimately Chapman was given out stumped when obviously his bat was grounded before the wicket' was knocked down. NOBLE TO LEAD JUNIORS. ■ WOOLLEY'S INJURY SERIOUS. SYDNEY, December 8. M. A. Noble, the old international, will captain the Combined Juniors eleven in the match against the Englishmen, commencing here on Saturday. . Woolley has not recovered from the injury h® received in the Victorian match. It is proving more serious than was anticipated, and it is doubtful if he will be available for the first test match, or even if he will be able to take the field for a month or so.
THE LANCASHIRE CLUB. LONDON, December 8. (Received Deo. 9, at 9.55 p.m.) Sir Edwin Stockton, at the annual meeting of the Lancashire Cricket Club, announced that all the 1924 players had been re-engaged, and the county would have the services in all its matches of E. A. M‘Donaid, “the greatest fast bowler in the world.’’ He added that J. T. Tyldesley had been appointed instructor.—A. and N.Z. Cable.
