NOBODY KNOWS, NOBODY CARES.

CONVEYING COUNTRY CHILDREN TO SCHOOL. LUCKY CITY MEN AND FLASH MOTOR CARS. The Education Board at its meeting yesterday did not take an application from Mr R. D. Kesson, Maheno, for a riding allowance for his school children, very seriously. Mr Kesson .wrote as follows With reference to my application for a riding allowonme, in the first place I would not let my children drive on this road in its present gtate for la a day for each child. What do men in the city know about what we have to put up with? They are in an office for about two hours a day and then jump into a flash car. They don’t know or care how we fare. It would lie far cheaper for me if I could let them drive, as I would only need one pony then. I arn to see what our member in the House (Mr Maopherson) can do, as it seems to me that the Education Board doesn’t want to encourage education. There are people who can get the allowance on a road like a bowling green. The Chairman (Mr Wallace) said that at any rate there wjere no city members of the board who owned motor cars.— (Laughter.) Tlie Hon. D. T. Fleming said he thought two of the country members owned Fords. —(Laughter.) Tie did not know whether they had been entirely paid tor yet.— (Laughter.) The Secretary said the point was that Mr Kesson did not say the road was impassable for vehicles driven by adults. That wns a necessary condition required by the department before a capitation grant could bo granted. It was decided to “receive” the letter.
