THE WEATHER.

During the last few weeks very changeable weather has been experienced in the Naseby district, snow having fallen on the mountains on more than one occasion. The abundant rainfall has stimulated growth, and the whole of the Manictoto Plain is looking better than it has done for a long time. PALMERSTON, December 8. A heavy thudorstorm fell yesterday afternoon, and rain continued till early evening, when it eased off somewhat, coming on again later. The weather is much colder, and there is snow on the high country. The rain was badly needed, but the cold snap could have been well done without Shearing is pretty general and it is not unlikely that there will be some loss of sheep
