ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
. . FOUND DROWNED. (Per United Press Association.) AUCKLAND, December 8. The inquest on the body of John Alexander Duncan, who was found drowned at Devonport on November '6, has been concluded. Throughout the inquest, which was twice adjourned, there seemed to be suspicions of foul play, as deceased was in possession of a considerable sum of money prior to his death. This idea was not supported by the evidence, and there being no marks of violence on the bady, the coroner returned a verdict of “Found drowned.” DEATH OF JOCKEY. C. REED SUCCUMBS TO INJURIES. ’ (Per United Press association.! TAUMARANI, December 8. Con Reed, the jqckey who was thrown by Lilac Domino in the Trial Plate at Taumaranui races on Saturday, died in tho hospital last night. Reed’s body will bo removed to Trcntham for interment. .... Reed’s injuries consisted ‘ of concussion and a broken rib. FALL OVER CLIFF. , CUSTOMS AGENT KILLED. (Per United Press Association.! WELLINGTON, December 8. A Customs agent named P. B. Boyd fell over a cliff on the Gollan’s Valley road this morning, and was found dead by tho driver of a milk float. Deceased had been in the habit of wandering about the hills with a dog and gun. SERIOUS MOTOR CRASH. GIRL SEVERELY INJURED. (Per United Press Association.) DANNEVIRKE, December 8. While motor cycling to Woodville yesterday from Kiritaki, Ray Walker and Winnie Coldstream met with a serious accident. The cycle capsized rounding a bend, and Miss Coldstream, who was riding pillion, got her right foot caught in the chain, the limb being almost torn away. It had to be amputated subsequently in Dannevirke Hospital. Walker sustained injuries to one knee.
