AUCKLAND BANKRUPTCY.
FAILURE OF LAND DEALER. LARGE SUM INVOLVED. (Per United Press Association.) AUCKLAND, December 8. At a meeting of the creditors of Jesse fames Hills, land dealer (Auckland), wlfn book debts of over £20,000, estimated to produce £2OO, the debtor produced a schedule covering the past three years. This showed receipts amounting to £10,500, and expenditure £9 less. Bankrupt’s business,and his wife’s were mixed until June, IJ)2S. Then his wife started a separate banking account. Three and a-half years ago he owed her £IO,OOO, increased since then to £11,300. Debtor admitted that he had been dealing on hla wife’s behalf on many occasions without consulting her, and bn many occasions received money from her for the purpose of paying his debts.
The meeting appointed a committee of three to go into the bankrupt’s affairs with the assignee.
