ACTION BY SHIPPING COMPANIES

(Received Dec. 8, at 11.15 p.m.) la the High Court the Orient bteam Ship Company, the Commonwealth Line, and others applied for an injunction to restrain the Waterside Workers’ Federation from committing alleged breaches of award and attempting anything in the nature of a strike. After argument, the case was adjourned till Monday next.

FEDERATION’S SUSPENSION LIFTED.
MELBOURNE, December 8. (Received Dec. 8, at 11.15 p.m.) The suspension by the Workers’ Federations of the Port Phillip Stevedores and the Melbourne Wharf Labourers’ Unions has been lifted, but so far no move has been made in the direction of calling the strike off, though no further vessels have been declared “black.”
