TRAINING PERIOD MODIFIED. Press Association— By Telegraph— Copyright. TOKIO, October 29. The War and Education Departments have finally agreed to a plan for the reduction erf ths two-year Conscription period and the substitution of military drill in colleges, high schools, and middle schools, corresponding with the American high schools, which will be exempted for one year. Graduates of normal schools must serve five months. The War Office is proposing to extend this privilege to Boy Scouts and young men’s associations, and it proposes to abolish the present system of buying a year’s exemption. The scheme will become effective next year.— Reuter,
