Medi Doran, a greaser on the steamer j ; Treworlas, was found guilty, with a strong recommendation to mercy, of the murder . - of John Jacob. Ho was sentenced to > death. A fireman named John Jacob, a West African, was stabbed to death on the fore- - f castle deck of the Treworlas by a member .. o fthe Indian crew named Medi Doran. . The two men had been working together as greaser and fireman since the Beginning of the voyage. It was stated that, owing to Doran’s bad temper, there had been frequent quarrels. Jacob was leaning Oyer « the deck rails, when Doran attacked hinx with a knife, and before he had time to grapple with his assailant he was stabbed. The attack was so sadden that the other members of the crew were unable to interfere.
