PIGEON FLYING.

The Dunedin Homing Pigeon Club flew % flock race from Christchurch last Saturday—an airline distance of 199 miles. The bird* put up a good fly against a bead wind. Mr H. D. Lowry (stationmaster) liberated 102 birds, representing 16 lofts, at 10 ajn., the winning hud timing in at 3.34 p.m., making its time shr 34min for the journey. The owner takes a trophy kindly presented bv Mrs A. Stevenson. Result in yards per minute:—A. Fraser’s Jolly Boy, 1033, 1; P. Jones’s Cypher, 10-27, 2; G. Coutte’s Lucky Ned 1026, 3; W. Hanly, and J. Scoullar also flew. ~ The club will fly from Amberley next Saturday—an airline distance of 221 miles. The North Dunedin Homing Club flew * pen race from Rakaia —a distance of 168 miles.
