Friday, September 19. (Before Mr J. R. Bartholomew, S.M.) Fined and Warned.—William Lysaght pleaded guilty to procuring liquor on Juno 6 while subject to a prohibition order. — As defendant had been before the court recently on a similar charge, the magistrate, in inflicting a fine of 20s, and costs (7s), warned him that if ho came before the court in the near future on a charge of this kind ho was liable to be sent to an inebriates’ home. Wandering Stock. —Charles Stevenson pleaded guilty to permitting two horses to wander in Beach street on September 7. Ho said the horses escaped from their paddock, but were put back immediately they wore discovered. —Fined Ss, and costs (7s). Arthur Cecil Armstrong was charged with allowing six head of cattle to wander on Beach road, Brood Bay, on September 13.—He pleaded not guilty, stating that ho had sent a man to mend the fence, but the man neglected to do so.— Constable Souter said he saw the cattle wandering on the road.—Fined 10s, and costs (7s). Hugh dark was fined a similar amount for permitting four cattle to stray on Seaton road, Portobcllo, on August 30.—Defendant said he was away at the time. The Ranger, in reply to a question from the Bench, said the cattle were frequently on the road. Arrears of Rent. —J. T. Wellbourn, Broad Bay, sued Joseph Dyer for 15 weeks’ rent and 13s 6d for electrio light.—Mr H. C. Alloo appeared for plaintiff.—Defendant did not appear, but sent a letter to the magistrate.—Judgment was given for plaintiff for the amount claimed, £ll 18s fid, with costs (£1 14s fid), and solicitor's foe (£1 Ha).
