SOCIAL SERVICE.

The monthly meeting of the P.S.S.A. Committee was held on Wednesday afternoon. Dr Cameron presided, and II members of committee were present. The Secretary reported statistics for the month as under:—ln Ross Home, 47; admissions during month, one; deaths ’oneremoval, one; children under charge of the association, 76; gone to work, one- in hospital, one. 'lho committee noted with regret the death of Mr Wm. Fleming, late manager of the Ross Homo, and passed a resolution of sympathy with his widow and daughters 'lhe Visiting Committee reported all well at Ross Home, and drew attention to some requirements 3-t the The reports were referred to the superintendent. Iho Finance Committee reported that receipts-for August were £532 16s Id and the expenditure £BB9 17b XOd. A sum ot £327 6s 4d had been received on account of thc sale of the George street property. Standing Committees for the year were set up—viz.: Works Committee—Mr .1 M‘George, convener; -Finance Committee— Mr E. Cameron, convener; House Committee, Ross Homo—Rev. W. Saunders, convenor ; House Committee. Children's Homes—Rev, W, Trotter, convener. The association’s architect was instructed to obtain prices for painting the homes at the Bay, which urgently required attention. Prices were also being obtained for drainage at Glondining Home. It was further reported that some paddocks at the farm had been sown down in oats and grass, ami the fencing was being repaired. The cows were milking well, considering the unusually dry season.
