GENERAL NEWS.

The weekly meeting of the Rescue Lodge, No. 105, 1.0.G.T., was held on Tuesday evening, C.T. Bro. W. A. lies in the chair. There was a good gathering of members and visitors. One candidate was admitted on re-admission from Firm and True Lodge. C.T. of Hope of Dunedin Lodge, with his officers, paid an official visit, and was welcomed by C.T. Bro. lies. G.C.T. Bro. Dalton reported on the jubilee of the Order in New Zealand, which is to be celebrated in Christchurch at the end of the month. After recess the lodge went into harmony, and the following contributed to the programme:—Sister Wilson, Bro. Sincock, Bro. Gore (solos), and Bro. Elmer and Sister L. Sincock (recitations). Votes of thanks were accorded to the performers and to the visitors. C.T. Bro. Wilson replied on behalf of the Hope of Dunedin Lodge. The Juvenile Temple met earlier in the evening, presided. over by G.J.J. Bro. Hilton. The evening was set down as Birthday Evening. The following contributed to the programme:—Piano ' duet, Miss M‘Mahon and Miss Shaw; company song, juveniles; recitation, Sister E. Miller; pianoforte selection, Sis. T. Pauli; solo, Sis. J. Crawford; quartet. Sis. M. Clark, J. Godfrey, J. Walker, A. Ferguson; dance duo, Gwen Chapman and Violet Lemon; a tableaux .of the seasons was given by a number of juveniles with good effect. Sis. A. Ferguson made a small presentation to Bro. Hilton on the occasion of his birthday, and at the same time congratulated the two juveniles on attaining another birthday. Bro. Hilton, in reply, thanked them for their tokens of goodwill, and at the same time extended a cordial welcome to all parents and children present. freshments were handed round, and the meeting terminated at 8.30. The weekly meeting of the Hope of Dunedin Lodge, 1.0.G.T., was held in the Albany Street Hall on Wednesday evening, Bro. E. Wilson, C.T., presiding over a good attendance of members and visitors from the Rescue Lodge. Five new members were Initiated into the Order. It was decided to hold the football match, Hope of Dunedin v. Rescue, on October 4. It was decided that a grand reunion of all Good Templars would be held in the lodge room on October 22 by the combined lodges. Bro. Gore reported concerning the tablet to be erected in memory of the late Bro. R. Sandilands. The lodge intends to hold a concert in the second week in October in aid of the forthcoming bazaar. The programme for the evening was “Brothers’ Surprise,” which took the form of a minstrel troup. A good concert was given, including items by a jaz. orchestra. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded to the brothers for the enjoyable evening. Prior to this meeting the Silver Star Juvenile Temple met* with a good attendance, C.T. Sis. Bedford being in the chair. One new member joined the Temple. Several items were given by the members.
