BASUTOLAND
NATIONAL ASSEMBLY MEETS. GREAT GATHERING OF NATIVES. Press Association —By Telegraph—Copyright. CAPETOWN, September 10. Unusual interest attaches to the great Basuto -Pisto (or National Assembly), which was opened to-day at Maseru by the Earl of Athlone (the Governor-Gene-ral). Over 30,000 natives were present, many having ridden miles over the hills. This is said to be the biggest Pitso on record in Basutoland under Imperial rule. No European is allowed to own land in the country-, which is also under sti icter Prohibition regulations than America.—A. and N.Z. Cable.
