A provisional contract for the building of 40 miles of standard gauge railway connecting Lake Taupo with the Main Trunk line at Kakahi. has been signed by Cammell, Laird, and Company. The contract will bo confirmed after Mr Hiley (the former General Manager of the New Zealand Railways) has reported on details of the work.
