PRINCESS THEATRE.
THREE NEW. ACTS. Something in the way of an innovation in vaudeville is promised in the new' programme scheduled for the Princess Theatre to-night, with the debut of Fred M’Donald, a “star” from the arena of the legitimate stage, whose whimsical aud brilliant comedy ' portrait of Dave iu Steele Rudd’s “On Our Selection” will be remembered as one of the finest comedy characterisations the Australian stage has given us. Mr M’Donald injected into that character a knowledge of way-back life in Australia won at first-hand. Sir Benjamin and Mr John Puller, recognising the genius of his impersonation, at length secured him to lift into vaudeville by way of a tabloid farce the essentials of that humorous and upusual stage portrait—as typical of Australia as “Old Bill”,was of a certain type of English soldier. Mr M'Donald will present, with the assistance of a very charming young Australian actress—Miss Vera St. John —a rollickingly funny oneact comedy “The Outbacks,” which epitomises all the virtues of "On Our Selection.” The other ■ incoming act saro Mr Bert Harrow, familiarly known and popular in vaudeville as “the mile-a-minute comedian,” and Ford and Aladous, a versatile duo. Five popular acts from last week complete the new bill. That fine song duo, Knight and Brady, will offer something unusual ia the shape of a musical! scena, and an entirely fresh repertoire is promised also by the magicianhumorist, Don (J. Merle, the clever juggler Togo, the efferversont Vaude and Verne, and that quick-fire duo. Hartley and Wright.
