THE SHARE MARKET.

DUNEDIN STOCK EXCHANGE. AJ though, the week began quietly on the Dunedin Stock Exchange business brightened up a bit during iKo past two days, banks and breweries being the most active classes ox stock. Commercial Banks have moved around a good deal at 29s 9d and New; Zealand* have been turned over at 675. National Bank of Australasias have not been quoted since Saturday, and Unions have Decoded a little. Gear Meats have cased to a slight extent and are available at 445, buyers offering is 6d less. Both, issues of New Zealand Kefngeratings have also Ward’s Breweries have improved, and two parcels of New Zealand Brewery debentures were turned oven on Thursday at 21a Go. Other similar lines are reticent. British Tobaccos have appeared regularly on the market this week and axe now in demand at 43s 3d, with sellers quoting at a shilling more than this figure. There is a sustained inquiry fox Brown, Ewings (both issues), Brace Woollens, Colonial Sugars, and D.I.C. a (prof.), but sellers have not quoted. Dominion Rubbers aro on offer now at 17s 6d, but buyers have shown practically no interest. The ordinary issue of Kaiapoi Woollens have also depreciated and shares were available yesterday at 16*3 9d, hut no alteration has taken place in the other two issues. i The inquiry for MTeod Bros.’s soap at £ls has not yet elicited an offer to sell a margin of 9d exists between the quotations for Smith, and Smiths, which are wanted at 18b, while the offer for Wilsons Cements has improved very slightly. Cn Wednesday National Insurances were sought at 73a 9d, but the offer has since receded by 3d, which is still an advance on Monday’s figure. Sellers are quoting at 755. Standards haws weakened, and shares ana now procurable at 43s 6a. Tho ordinary issue of Huddart, Parkers has shown 'a docided depreciation in the inquiry, while the preference issue, on the other hand, has improved. The increase in P. and O.’s was apparently only a temporary one, as sellers ore now prepared to accept £3OO. Westport Cools and Stocktons (ordinary) are not as strong as they were at the beginning of the week. Shares m the new issue of Goldabrough, Morts are procurable at 465, but this still leavec a margin of Is 9d between the two quotations. Wmght, Stephensons, (ord.) have fallen off and the sum of 6a between the two quotations precludes any possibility of business. Waihis and Electrolytic Zincs (den orcL) have shown a distinct inclination to recede, this being especially noticeable in the Zincs, which are oh the market at 225. War Bonds were quoted fairly extensively by sellers, and 5J per cent* Inscribed Stock (1927-41) advanced in price to £99, with buyers offering £96. Sales; 5J per cent. Soldiers' Banda (1933), £lOl 10s.
